Race, Equity and Leadership
When it comes to leadership diversity, the rationale spans across theoretical arguments, moral obligations and commercial reasoning. However, the lack of racial diversity within public and civil service leadership remains problematically low and presents unique issues. Further, public and civil service sector leaders are increasingly being challenged to be active, equity-aware leaders who can create inclusive environments and set positive examples for their organisations.
This course aims to help participants understand the pervasive barriers, challenges and interconnected forms of
systemic oppression that have implications for current and aspiring non-white leaders. They will learn to recognise structures that perpetuate inequality, address assumptions and challenge perceptions.
At the Civil Service College, we tailor our courses to each attendee’s role and organisation, ensuring that each participant gets the most out of the training. Our courses and trainers are continuously updated and evaluated to ensure that we are always delivering the best service possible.
This course applies critical thinking to the issue and is suitable for anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the intersections of race and leadership.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore the intersection of race and leadership and will leave the course with a deeper theoretical and practical knowledge that will help start chart stronger paths to leadership diversity.
